Celebrating

Saturday June 25, 2022, 1:30-4:30

We will be celebrating Isabel’s life together with family, friends, food, music, art and memories, per her wishes.

“I would want my funeral to be a time of laughter and storytelling; the thought of my funeral being entirely drab and dull sounds miserable. Of course, people will cry but I would want them to also think about the good times when I was alive”

From Isabel’s assignment for a Death and Dying Class, April 2020

Virtual Attendance

Here is the link to the event today. The code to enter (if needed) is her name.

We will do our best to provide a good virtual attendance experience. However, we do not have tech people dedicated to this, the internet in the room may be poor, and the sound quality could be hard to manage in a large room. We apologize in advance if the experience is not optimal.

Program

Friends and family have planned an event that honors Isabel’s wishes. We will be displaying her artwork, sharing photos, having craft activities, creating a timeline of her life, showing her favorite movies, sharing a playlist created by her close friend, hearing tributes, and more.

Tributes

Sharing stories about Isabel with the group is part of the design for Saturday. We have 20+ people who have requested to speak, along with many more that might like the opportunity. To create a space where everyone can be heard, we are asking that tributes be kept to 3 minutes. We will have a facilitator helping with timing. Please consider taking a few minutes to prepare your tribute; short notes are always a good idea so you don’t leave anything out. Family will be scheduled to speak first.

Activities

We have a few activities planned including:

  • Timeline of Isabel’s Life: Add a marker on the timeline for when you met her, a story, or other milestone
  • Pick a photo to take with you
  • Create a frame for your photo
  • Write down a wish/hope/prayer rememberance for a later fire ceremony
  • Paint a rock for memories
  • Make a bracelet
  • Paint a dish together
  • Sing a song together as a group at the end

Dress Code

“I don’t want a dress code, people can wear whatever the hell they want that makes them happy.” -Isabel

Guidance

We want to keep everyone healthy and not create a super-spreader event. For that reason, we are requesting:

Masks be worn.
Individuals Covid test on their own before the event.
If you are not vaccinated, please do not offer hugs or other contact.
Consider asking before hugging or making contact.
